We have a used vintage Polytone amplifier. It appears to be the model 102 from the 1970’s. There is no builder plate or model identification numbers to verify that opinion. As shown in the pictures, the transformer is a Polytone part. We assume that the single 12” and two 8” speakers are original to this amp. The Tolex covering and grill cloth were recently applied and are in good condition. There is a Polytone “Mini Brute III” badge attached to the front grill, however, we do not believe this is that model. The circuit board and interior of the amplifier are both very clean and free of dirt, dust, or corrosion. The speakers are undamaged and do not buzz or rattle. The bottom of the amp cabinet is equipped with four sockets to install castors. A good fitting vinyl cabinet cover will be included. The cabinet measures 22” wide x 18” tall x 12” deep and weighs approximately 50 pounds.
Considering the age of this amplifier, it is in very good condition. A local luthier did the restoration several years ago.
This combo amp is equipped with two separate channels. Each channel has volume, bass, and treble controls as well as bright and dark switches, and separate high and low inputs. Channel one also has a push/pull control on top of the volume knob that functions as a distortion /gain control for channel one. The effects section has a vibrato speed and intensity control as well as a reverb control. These are actuated by on/off pedals plugged into the input jacks at the bottom back of the cabinet. The required pedals can be generic standard switching pedals with ¼” jacks. Please note, no pedals will be included in the sale. There is a switch at the bottom rear of the cabinet labeled as live/damped room eq. There are two other jacks at the rear bottom of the cabinet labeled bass and treble. (We do not know if these are inputs or outputs, but guessing they are outputs. We did not test them). All other controls, switches, and connection jacks function as intended with no noise. The a.c. power cable is grounded. The on/off switch can be reversed for polarity problems.
We believe this solid state amp is rated at 100 watts output and can get very loud. It was a preferred amp for many jazz artists as well as others in the 1970 and 1980 decades. Information about these amplifiers is scarce. If you have any better or additional information about this Polytone amp, please message us with your input.
The amp will be securely boxed and shipped insured to any location in the lower 48 states for the flat rate of $200. The cost of shipping has become very expensive. For instance, an estimate from UPS to ship this from Idaho to Florida was $223. We will adjust the shipping charge based on a UPS estimate to your location. A local pickup in southeastern Idaho is also an option. Cash only for local pickup.
Payment for a sale to be shipped must be made using Venmo or Zelle. We WILL NOT ship the amplifier to you until the total funds have been deposited into our account and verified. No returns of merchandise or funds is possible. This used amp is purchased "as is".
Shipping outside of the U.S. will be considered and all associated costs will be paid by the buyer.
We will honor your requests for additional pictures of the combo amplifier.
