Meet Tug!
He is sweet and curious boy with so much potential. He’s very easy going, but when he doesn’t want to do something he’s smart enough to not try. Just finding a way to motivate him was our journey. For this reason he needs an experienced rider who can fill the holes in his training. I would love for someone to take him into the mountains. I think he would be a great trail horse. He has hard feet and no spook.
His dam was pregnant with him when pulled from the reservation. So he’s not a tagged mustang. And has lived his life domestic. I got tug a year ago from a neighbor who had planned to train him but had health complications and could no longer work with him. He’s basically been a pasture pet most of his life. I put about 60 rides on him last year and he was always good with me. We have done a lot of round pen time and some arena time. I mostly have ridden him in a basal and started transitioning him to snaffle. He understands leg pressure. Working with him on the ground and saddle to move off pressure has been rewarding. He’s so smart and it’s fun to see him figure things out. I ponied him on a near by trail last year and he didn’t spook at anything. He just needs more time in the saddle.
Loads Trailers like they’re no big deal. Ties, just needs more patience and time on the pole. Tends to paw.
I haven’t been able to spend much time with him this year. I started a farmstand and now that season is over I’m turning my attention back on tug and finding him the best home. I’m a mom and have two young kids and I just haven’t had the time to dedicate to him this year. It’s been even harder to get him miles on trail.
He picks up his feet fine. He didn’t get his feet trimmed much before I got him and has had some trouble holding them up for the farrier. I’m working with a farrier who has been patient and we have made progress on him holding his feet for him.
Ultimately I would love for someone to use him as Trail horse. Take him into the mountains and put some miles on him. Fill the holes in his training and give him the love and time he needs to help him achieve his potential.
