As the days grow longer and the weather more enticing, what better time to sit back, relax, and read? And for those searching for economical yet interesting and inspiring stories, what better place to find them than the Friends of the Marshall Public Library bookstore?

World At War/Remembering: Although Memorial Day has come and gone, significant anniversaries in military history are observed in June. The 28th marks the 110th anniversary of the start of World War I and June 6 reminds us of the great military sacrifices made on D-Day. The bookshelf display includes non-fiction and fiction tomes about these two great conflicts in global history. The nearby cart highlights the contributions of women to these efforts; find non-fiction accounts and historical fiction related to Women in War.

Mountains, Beach, or Backyard?/Summer Reading: Whether your summer plans take you to the mountains, the beach, or simply the backyard, escaping into the world of a great novel may be on your to-do list. To assist you in finding just the right venue for a mental getaway, the store is stocked with fine novels for all readers. Many of these titles are lightweight paperbacks, perfect for tucking into a backpack, beach bag, or on a side table. Find a new world between the covers of an inexpensive read.

Father's Day/Dear Old Dad: Let's not forget Dad! Whether dad is the king of the grill, a golfing fanatic, or a comedian wannabe, you'll find just the right little something for him. Books about various sports, outdoor cooking, funny stuff, and hobbies cram the corner and cart in the store. Remember Dad with a just-right book for him.

A gentle reminder: the Friends' sale is stocked completely with donations and library discards. No backroom with duplicate copies exists; if you find something that catches your eye, you must catch it yourself! There is no back stock!

Most items sell for $1.00 each, although specialty items and/or sets may be priced accordingly. The store operates on the honor system; a small money box is posted to accept your cash and/or checks.

The carousel featuring handy mass-market-sized paperbacks and the children's bookshelf (Kids Korner) have been restocked. These materials sell for just 25 cents; a quarter for hours of reading enjoyment!

The Friends' ongoing sale is located on the first floor of the Marshall Public Library adjacent to the Circulation Desk and is open during regular library hours.

The Friends of the Marshall Public Library is a 501(c)(3) organization; donations are welcome and receipts are available. All proceeds are used to support the library and its patrons.
